Elandan Gardens - "Nick Lenz Larch"

Postby Victrinia Ridgeway on Tue Jul 14, 2009 11:54 pm

Just because Tom asked me to share the wealth a little with trees I was posting. I thought I would start to share some of the trees I work on at the garden here...

This particular one is called the Nick Lenz Larch because Nick gave it to Daniel some time ago. I think Nick gifted it to him once when he came to go on a collecting trip with him. Daniel planted it on a rock and grew it out considerably. We repotted it last year because it was starting to flag, so this year it's gotten all vigorous and happy.

I decided to work on it today, as it was in dire need of a trim, thinning, and tweaking. I'll be doing some carving of the jins this weekend. I repositioned some of the overall structure using guy wires.

Enjoy!

Kindest regards,

Victrinia

Great tree and hair cut Ms. Vic.....

Pretty cool to have a tree from Nick at your finger tips to work. I like this tree very much, and can see Daniels influence on it. The blurred background in the after pic seems a fitting back drop for the picture...thanks so much for sharing
Cheers, Tom

Fantastic harmony between tree and rock, it looks more like it was collected with the rock in place. Very natural feel for this style. Great material to be working on Ms Vic and it looks all the better for your efforts. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Vic this is the product of a good eye for the vision you have for this tree. You have come a long way in your pursuit of our magnificent obsession in the last four years I have known you. Very well done my dear, so pleased for you.

How many trees you bringing to Riverside to share? I think you should pack this one.

After unpacking, I'll find some room in my truck!

Then I'll help Al unpack his truck and it will go into my van before I head up into the mountains.
