Thanks for the comments all.
Irene, although I've never been "down South", I am influenced by some old lowland trees from the homeland (UK) of which we have many examples with deadwood.
I hope you all enjoyed reading the article as much as I enjoyed writing it. The contest deadline was a challenge but anyone who knows will tell you I needed it. Why do today what you can procrastinate over for a week?
